I have been going round and round with this start issue, sometimes it starts sometimes it doesn't. This morning drove fine then wouldn't start. Seems like it is not getting spark or fuel. It sounds like it is trying to start, starter seems fine, I removed a plug and it sparks good. . How do I check to make sure I am getting proper fule pressure? 01 DII.

 

There is a spot where you can hook into one of the fuel rails to check the pressure. It should be checked before you start in the morning, also at idle and at 2000 RPM's.

Thanks Ill see if I can find it. It died this morning around 1145 and I just now got it to start and drive home. It seems fuel related because after it starts it does fine until you let it sit. I'm lost at this point. I did try to get the codes read but no one around could do it.

 

Do you have a check engine light on?
It might be the inerita switch starting to fail. It is located on the pass. side of the fire wall, you might try resetting it the next time the truck won't start.

Yes there is a SES light on. Last 2 places I took to have it read had there readers inop. How do you reset the inertia switch??

 

Do you know where the switch is, just open the hood and look at the firewall on the drivers side, you'll see a largre black switch, just push the button on top of it and see if you can start.
You do need to get your codes read.

Sorry to hi-jack your thread but I was just getting ready to post the exact same problem.My is a 99 Disco II with 157K miles on her. Went to an appointment where the truck sat for about and hour. Came out and it wouldn't start. Cranks fine just not getting any fuel. I thought vapor lock or maybe fuel gauge gave up. We added some gas and tried it a couple of more times and finally it started. I got down the road about two miles.....running fine no hesistancy or bucking and then it just stopped and would not start. Pushed around the corner and sat there for a few minutes and then tried. Started right up and ran fine. I filled the tank and it has run great up until yesterday. Had it out in the morning. Came back and it sat until early afternoon tried it and the same thing. I came back a couple of hours later and it started right up.

Doesn's sound like bad fuel, pump or filter given the fact it runs smooth and great once it starts back up. No warning lights. What else besides the fuel relay switch Mike mentions above? Thanks

 

I didn't mention the relay switch, but it is a good idea to check or replace it cause they do fail. I mentioned the inerita switch as a possibility causing the problem.
