Default Fuel pump removal- help

Guys does anyone know how to remove the adapter ring on the d2 tank? It goes between the tank and locking ring. It is rusted and keeps giving me a evap code. I have tried to turn counterclockwise and it turns but won't come loose. It has gone 1/4 turn but I figured it should loose now. Any one?

Installed the adapter ring and got the seal in. Here's a pic of the finished stuff. Had to use wd40 and used the locking ring to spin the adapter on.

Whyd you take the pump out in the first place? Did you think the seal was bad? Only reason I ask is because I thought my seal was bad, but I ran the truck with the fuel pump exposed and it turned out to be my fuel pump was cracked. my luck >

I pulled because I had a recurring evap code. The ring was cracked and seal was folded. The truck runs fine now. My pump wasn't cracked. Good for me

I'm glad it worked out! Weirdly enough I didn't code at all, I just had problems starting and a fuel smell on the rear

Sorry forgot to mention. I filled up one day and I had some fuel spillage. Checked and found that ring rusted and the locking ring loose. Replaced both to avoid future problems.
