Fuel reset button question
I’ve had my 04 D2 (Clarkson) for about a year. I haven’t put a lot of miles on it but it always starts right up and has not thrown any codes, knock wood.😂
However, I ran a few errands yesterday, pulled into a store, went inside and when I came back out it would crank but would not start. So I did a quick Google search and came up with all the obvious ones about fuel pump, CPS and fuel reset button. So I popped the hood and pressed the fuel reset button. It gave only a very slight click. Got back inside and the truck started right up.
Basically my question is this...is there anything else I need to be looking at that would cause the reset to pop? Hasn’t popped since And I’ve started it a few times. But I’m just looking to head off an underlying problem if there is one.
Any input?
Thanks!

What's sometimes called the "fuel reset switch" is actually an inertia switch, designed to cut fuel in case of an impact or rollover...so I guess the first question is: Is your truck OK? Someone could have hit it while you were parked. Granted it's unlikely you almost certainly would have noticed damage caused by an impact sufficient to trigger it, but I thought I would throw it out there.

I had this happen to me again last night. This time I was coming to a stop light and the truck died while moving. Slight smell of fuel when I got out and popped the hood. ( I noticed this last time as well but I didn’t think much about it. )no fuel smell at any other time.
So I popped the hood and pressed the reset switch. This time no hint of a click. Got back in and tried to start. Would still crank but wouldn’t fire up.
Got it pushed off the road and I was about to start calling around for help but I thought I’d fiddle with the switch some more. First thing I did was to unplug it and I dusted Off the connector and plugged it back in. Got back in the truck and it fired right up.
So obviously I’ve got an issue since it’s happened to me the last two times I’ve driven it. I’m thinking I’ve got a bad inertia switch or the CPS is starting to crap the bed.
What do you guys think?

Going to throw in a new CPS. It’s been running hotter than it should due to a front cover leak. I think that started to toast the CPS. I gotta stop driving it until that leak is fixed. But it’s hard to resist. LOL
That’s next on the agenda after the 03 is back from the shop.
