Exclamation Fuel Tank Leaking????

I have been having some issues with starting my disco, it takes 2-3 cranks and then starts right up, runs fine. Today while inspecting the new suspension and brake lines I recently installed I noticed the bottom of the fuel tank appeared wet. Upon further inspection it appears that fluid, gas I suspect, is leaking from the top of the tank and coming down both sides of the tank. The truck has been sitting for nearly 12 months up until now. I did the suspension work and have been driving it now for about 2 weeks. I do not know if the leak is associated with the start issue or if they are separate issues.

Thanks in advance
Rob

The fuel pump is attached to the top of the tank and there is an seal that may be bad in your case. I do recall you can change it from inside the truck (in the back) without dropping the tank. I would at least take a look and see if you see gas leaking from there

Yes, it could be allowing the fuel to flow back, out of the fuel rails, and into the tank, then it takes the pump longer to build up pressure again.

Also look for cracks around the top of the fuel tank where the pump goes in, there was a recall on DI's with bad fuel tanks that were cracking.
Chances are yours was fixed but worth checking as long as you are in there.

No, the D2's plastic/rubber tank won't crack like the D1's did.

Question Fuel leak update

Ok I removed the carpet and interior to access the fuel pump. I noticed the top of the pump was wet and had some residual fuel in the top, looks like the main connection, is white and directly on top. Anyhow I started the truck and as it ran fuel slowly filled the top of the connector up and began to run out. Is that a bad connector/fitting or what??? I have attached some pics to help make some sense of my description.

Thanks
Rob

Clean it, dry it, and seal it with RTV that is gas proof.
Fill the whole top thingy that has the "T" in it with the RTV, let it cure before you run the engine and then see if it still leaks.
You should be good after that though.
