I did check the oil, needs to be changed, but not too bad. The coolant looked pretty good. But, it was red or pink. Is that normal? I assumed it was, looked real fresh like it had just been changed. The brake fluid needs to be changed, but not too bad.

LR Toronto was the servicing dealer, so I might try calling them for records.

No warning lights were on for sure.

Can you tell me how the SLS is supposed to work? I was trying to push the button and get it to lift, but nothing happened. I don't know if it needed some combination of must be in low range while patting your head and rubbing your tummy or what. I would think if the system just wasn't working, the back would be dragging, and the light would be on permanently or flashing or something.

Definitely bring it to the dealer. The coolant is supposed to be pink. dive under for oil at the oil pan bell housing area. The SLS dash switchshould operate in 4 low ...I think !!! Got My Disco last Christmas and the pump failed in february so I have no real experience with SLS. I attribute the failure to the fact that my heated garage and the extreme cold outside temperature caused humidity buildup in the pump. So if your no ready to switch, or do not intend to....Just leave it outside and NO heated garage in the winter.

 

Let see some pictures. I think that $15K for any land rover that new with only 55,000 miles is a really good deal. nevertheless for a G4!

I was there and i too had agreed to buy it. When i went back because a dealer friendpulled a 8200$ insurance claim in 2004 AND a claim in 2006 of unknown amount, i went to ask questions about it, saw that the door was changed with all wiring cut and then taped back, i got a a cold shoulder from the sales manager and he was short of telling me to go to hell. I walked out. Now i see what happened, they sold the truck twice and you obviously agreed to pay more than me and then they lied about it. Needless to say i wish you the best of luck.With the amount of lies and running around i got from those guys, ihave never been so happy to walk away for a great deal.

 

oh yeah, passenger seat does not go up or down, main fog light not working, rusting ladder,tear in back of passenger seat, uneaven door gaps, gas cap door non functional,air suspension did not seem to work, still had a lean on it from Land Rover, another leasing company had it for awhile then sold it to dealer who i wont mention. Also the mileage of the 2004 hit was 50000km, then the 2006 hit was 73500km. I found that suspicious.Anyways, glad to find this forum and ill keep looking for a Disco G4 (if possible) that i can live with.

 

oh, i am not saying it is not a good truck, that you should not buy it or anything, but i would recommend you have an inspection done at Land Roverlike others mentioned.

i just reread myself and sound like a *****, not my intention. They lied to us and they pissed my pregnant GF off in a big way and i had to drive 5 hours with her sitting next to me... still recovering.

Dude, this is hilarious, I was the guy that was there on Tuesday with you. When and what did you offer them? Just curious of the chronology of it.

I ran out of time on Tuesday and left without signing any papers, but I told them I wanted it at the $14,998 and I'd call to do the deposit. I called back around 7:15 and spoke to Mike and thought I left a deposit. He took all my info so I thought that was it.

On Wednesday I spoke with their finance guy, and he took my info. Last night, the sales guy called and told me the financing went through with TD. I asked him "Yeah, but at what rate?" and he couldn't answer. I still don't have an answer on that.

Today, I talked to the Sales guy, and he faxed me the bill of sale, and a deposit authorization slip for the Visa. It's looking like they haven't charged the deposit, and I'm now wondering if they have been shopping both of us all along?

Anyway, the bill of sale had $1600 in extra fees on it. $400 Admin, $700 reconditioning, and $500 financing fee.

I told them to **** off. He offered to take $200 off. I told him I'd pay the price we agreed on, they can call me back if they want, and hung up.

So that's that. If anybody else wants it, go ahead.

I'd buy it at $15,000, but not a penny more. The G4 edition, it's kinda a plus and minus for me. It's plus because "it's worth more" and it's kinda neat, but a minus cause I don't really like orange. Combined with it's condition, etc... not worth it to me.

So, if anybody else thinks it's worth $25k cause it's a G4, go right ahead. I'm looking for a decent truck in good condition for a good price, not a museum piece (which it isn't anyway).

Coolant: Pink, red... Yeah, it was probably pink, I think that was fine.

The wiring harness on the door, I assume it was actually the stereo installers that did that. And the door panels, I assume it was just the way they're built. My 06 Focus is like that from the factory. Pathetic. The Mexican plant used to do a better job, now that they build them in Michigan they suck. I checked the fog lights, and they worked for me. The SLS, I assume only works in 4low as suggested?

Oh, and Pascal, what do you mean about 2 accidents? How did you find that out? They only disclosed the one, and Carfax doesn't show any.

 

I had a agreement at 14500$ all in + taxes, as is. then they figured out i was not financing but bringing cash. that wastuesday afternoon, then theystarted to yank my chain. Things stalled until wednesday when i went in with cash and the preggers. Then i overheard the sales dude ask the sales manager say "what do you want to do now", i knew something was wrong, then they "lost" the papers i send them by Purolator (with confirmation), played around, lied,and we walked. he seemed releive (sp?). I asked him to tell me straight up if he had someone else for more but his answer was that i was 100% wrong. Theygive a bad name to used car dealers!
Car dealers have access to more info than we do. So my bud pulled out the UCDA or something similar data that showed 2 insurance claims on it, one of unknown amount.

All the wiring of the door was cut clean out. That door was removed why? Thinking more than a fender bender.

My concern was that if they are so unclear on everything, what are they not telling me or worse hidding...

I really liked the idea of the G4 edition but not THAT much.

 

Mike was obviously playing both of us, you were just more money to them than me. When i showed up on wednesday at 12:00 with cash and they did about everything to get me to leave, i knew you had to be the one offering more. Now that i see that they added a few little fees, understand even better. He has no clue what hes got and when 2 guys showed up within a day of having that truck on the lot he decided he was going to make his Xmas bonus right then and there...
