Same thing happened to me a few months ago. It was the gas pump, not my truck. I believe the DII's had a recall on the filler neck/vent a couple of years ago.

A blue moon just happened night before last! Really - look it up.

That explains it. I'll carry a can of Seafoam when a blue moon is approaching and - Bam! No worries.

I was outside watching the blue moon, so I know it just happened.
It is always really cool to see.

Default I had the same problem

I had the same problem and did the sea foam suggestion, I let the sea foam sit in the vent tube for awhile then blew compressed air down the vent tube. Haven't had a problem since.

+2 on the vent tube gettin clogged. If the air cant escape fast enough, the pump reads the pressure increase and decides its full and cuts off. Happens all the time with fleet vehicles, especially crown vics.
