Default Gas Mileage

I am currently getting about 12.5 MPG and almost all of my driving is city, part of the problem. I have read that some of you are getting upwards of 16. I run Chevron Supreme, 91, every tank and just can't get more MPG. What are you guys doing to increase the fuel economy?

run magancores and iridium plugs. clean the induction system with seafoam. run synthetics in the engine, tranny, tcase and diffs. run proper tire inflation's. and dont drive with a heavy foot. so no jack rabbit starts.

What is the seafoam? I run fully synthetic everything and have great quality plugs and wires, not Magnacore or Iridium but Belden and Bosch. I will have to stop the heavy foot thing!

think of how much fuel is being burned to move a heavy land rover from a dead start,,,now toss in heavy throttle foot and you have crap mileage.

your engine could use this much fuel,,,

That engine probably cost more than most people make in a year. I will check out the seafoam. Thanks for the help!

that engine probably costs more then a house[:-]

on your intake manifold there is a small hose behind the tube with a red push washer. pop that of and put a piece of vacuum tube on the nipple and the other in the can of seafoam. regulate the flow through the tube with pliers or something. when the can is empty kill the engine and wait 20min. fire it up and it will smoke like a mother. drive it around for awhile. your engine light may come on but it will go off after some driving.

16mpg intown that a laugh!maybe with smaller tyres (shows more miles)and a tail wind. For the most part i would say 16mph once and never again, but normal would be 12 to 14mpg for most people.
