gas mileage
just thought i'd share my thoughts with everyone who complains about their poor mpg. the other day i filled my truck to 10 gallons to see just how bad the disco sucks gas. well after a few days i was back down to emtpy with a tad over 150 miles. correct me if i'm wrong but doesnt that equal 15 mpg ??? personaly i dont think this is too bad at all considering what we are all driving. hell im 18 years old and if i can drive reasonably around town and stay easy on the gas anyone should be able to do it. by the way i've had my disco for 2 weeks now and i love it !
Congratulations on getting the 15mpg. That's about as good as you'll ever get.
By the way, that's not really an accurate way to calculate mpg. You need to fill your tank, run for a while then fill it again. Then you need to divide the miles you've driven between fill ups by the number of miles you drove between fill ups.
I'm sure you already knew that, but I thought I'd share anyway.
Enjoy your new toy. You'll love it.

I live in a large metropolitan city and commute to the suburbs for work (pretty much the opposite of everyone else). I consistently average around 14mpg give or take with a 50/50 mix of city and highway driving, so I'm happy w/ that.
The best way is to fill it full. Reset your odometer. Drive, and take down the mileage at your next fill up. Mileage/gallons to fill up + MPG. do this five times and you will know what to expect... I got 20 with a tail wind going to dallas. I am averaging about 16.
I have just used 4 tank fulls in my new to me 98 D1 with 116,000 miles.
Gas mileage 15.2, 15.8, 15.4, 15.6. on 87 octane. I am now going to run
some 91 octane for a comparison. So far I have just used about 1/4 of
a tank full and it looks like it is going to be better. After a few more tank
fulls I plan to change the plugs, etc....

I try not to drive when I'm fueled w/alcohol!
I didn't buy my rover for the mileage so I just fill'r up when she's low and roll with it. I chalk it up to, "the cost to be the boss."
