Gas mileage change with full roof rack?
I'm debating getting a full safari style rack, but wondering about noise and economy with it.
Does anyone have experience? I'm getting about 14mpg now, and I can't handle if it gets much lower.
What are your experiences?
Also how much would you pay for a secondhand rack that needs a fresh coat of paint?

I have a BajaRack EXP (flat section) with a roof top tent on it. I'd say I lost about 1 mpg at speed, but I also have lights and jerry cans up there on big trips. There is a noticeable increase in wind noise from the rack, but it's a lot better with the BajaRack wind deflector. I don't travel over 65 mph typically, which limits the noise.
I really like my roof rack, it's one of the best upgrades I bought for my Disco. Gets a lot of attention. The roof top tent is a game changer for camping. Comfortable and easy to set up.
I've seen used racks in good condition go for around $800. If it needs a new powder coat I would check with shops to see how much for a new coat and figure from there.
