Default Gasket Leak?

Last week I did a seafoam induction cleaning. After waiting the 10 to 15 minutes, I started the truck up. It smoked like I expected. However, a lot of smoke came out the downpipe/manifold gasket on the passenger side. While it wasrunning and smoking, I checked the rest of the exhaust system and found no other leaks, no smoke coming out of the downpipe/manifold onthe driver's side. I have been complaining about odd exhust sounds on this forum for some time (when I floor it to get on a highway I get this strange vibration sound from the exhaust). Also I see a little black soot on the heat shield between the downpipe and the engine block.

With that said, I took it to a local Midas shop today. They called me and said there is no leak and I just got back from picking it up. They didn't charge me, which was good, but even after I told them what I saw when I did the seafoam treatment they still said there was no leak. They said they blocked the tailpipe and found no leaks anywhere.

I ammissing something or doesn'tsmoke coming out of the gasket mean there's a leak.

Those are prone to cracking at the welds on the manifold, also the studs loosening. I have a problem with the studs right now, and with seafoam, it runs right out. I would replace the gasket there and when you are tightening back, make sure the studs are holding tight.

Thanks Okdiscoguy.

The same thing happened when I seafoamed it, seafoam began leaking out of the gasket ( I didn't mention that in the post. Afraid I would get chastised for putting too much in too quickly). I told Midas that the liquid came out the gasket, but that didn't change their minds. I don't know, maybe it was aFriday afternoon and they just wanted to go home.
