Default Transfer Case - Paper Gasket or Hylomar Gasket

Hey All,

I have an '03 Disco 2 and pulled the transfer case last weekend, it was leaking pretty bad so I replaced all the seals and gaskets on her using a kit from Atlantic British. I purchased the Hylomar sealant as well but didn't think I needed to use it with the paper gaskets that came in the kit. Well here we are a week later and she is leaking out of the front output shaft bell housing where it seals to the transfer case housing. I can only imagine the leaks are going to get worse.

Should I just pour in some oil leak stop, or do I need to pull out the T-case again and re-do the seals using the Hylomar? or do I use the Hylomar and the paper gaskets together?

I would appreciate any advise you all have on this.

Thanks!

Try a bottle of White Shepherd oil stop leak first before you go tearing it out again. I put some in mine nearly 2 years ago and it hasn't leaked since.

Thanks Disco Mike, yeah the bottle is on the way. Say I do end up needing to re-do the seals again, do you recommend using the Hylomar Blue Sealant, or the paper gaskets that come in the re-build kit? or both?

Thanks,
