Awesome info Guys, just ordered my stuff from lucky8 and will tackle it this weekend I hope. I hope it holds out a few more days. It's my daily driver at the moment till I get my other toy back on the road this weekend to. I just picked me up a 81' vw rabbit diesel pickup for better gas mileage for everyday drivin.

Got my parts in x-mas eve and put them in today. As I was taking the flange nut off there was no torgue on it at all, I could've almost took it off with my hand. That could have been the problem all a long. Anyways while I had it apart I went ahead and replaced bearing and seal and installed a new drive shaft from lucky 8, those guys are awesome help and good to deal with by the way. Was a pretty easy job all together thou that snap ring sucks and I had a little trouble seating the bearing back into case, but after all of the jet ski engines I've rebuilt over the years I used an old trick. Maybe some of you know it but if not all you need to do is throw bearing in freezer and heat up the case a little with propane torch and the it will slip right in. Used to do that on the bearings on crankshafts all the time on the skiis.
Once again thanks for all the info guys.

Nice to hear all went well. I'm gonna be attempting the same repair. Did you have to remove the entire shaft or did the bearing come off the shaft? Also, about how long did it take you?

Zeroone, The whole shaft will come out of case with the slide hammer. Once out of the case you must use a bearing puller to get off shaft, lowest bidders write up was dead on. only thing I did different was once I put the shaft back into the case i frooze the shaft and bearing in the freezer for about 15 minutes and right before installing the shaft into the case I heated the case up and the shaft slide right in. Took me a couple of hours not bad at all.

Thanks! I figured as much... lol. I'm just worried about something in that case becoming misaligned. Never had to make a repair like this before. Hahaha

Just came across this thread while doing a search. Ordered a front output flange kit and bearing and will be tackling the job as soon as I get the parts. Seems pretty straightforward.

Brylcream... That's funny...
