Seems like the front diff or maybe the tranny whines... It's not loud, but you can def hear it, comes from just under and forward of the gear shifter. Is a little whine normal, I know my mustangs rear end has a decent amout of whine so I wasn't sure. Also what do you guys use for tranny and diff fluids? Do you add anything special? Thanks alot!

 

Most Rovers have a small and common whine noise, so assuming your fluids have been changed and are full, most likely you have nothing to worry about.

The Disco I's tranfer cases makes the noise.
Its the gear's and how they are cut, the Disco II's
have a newer transfer case that has the designation of Q
for quiet.
I use synthetic gear oil it gives me peace of mind.

You might also want to go to a slightly higher weight gear oil, that will cut down on the noise and potenetial wear.

What type of gear oil are you guys using? While I'm at it, are you adding anything to the trans?

 

I add some Lucas Transmission additive to the tranny, I use an 85/140 wait, GL6 rated gear oil to the t/case and diffs.

Truck looks good with the lights. If you are wanting extra light at night you might consider replacing your headlight elements with the 80/100 watt bulbs from Hella, I think that was the brand I used. Anyway, factory bulbs are rated at 55/65 watt, I believe and boy what a difference they make. These are not the real brite white replacements, they burn at the same light range as regular bulbs but go alot further down the road.
They are about $12 a piece and you can buy them from Expedition Exchange on the web.
