Default getting a keyfob

Since my truck didn't come with a keyfob, I am now looking to get one. I heard it had to be programmed by the dealer though.

What is my best chance for getting a keyfob pretty cheap?

E-Bay is the cheapest, but make sure you buy a new, not used one, and that it comes with it's on barr code or you will not be able to get it to work.
Oh, and yes the dealer or a shop that might have an Auto Logic with Rover soft ware can do it.

You can program a used key, I've done it myself. You just have to get someone that has the correct computer or someone to look up the barcode for you. There are at least two people on this site that can generate the barcodes from the 6 digit code inside the key.

I tried that myself with the keyfob that came with my Disco. Although it fit the lock and cranked the truck it didnt work the locks remotly. The Stealership here in Birmingham Alabama acted like they didnt know how to program a used key using the code inside it. Forced me to buy a new one. With programming it was over $300 shop bill at the stealership, but a MUST have if you are spoiled to keyless entry...

Anybody in the Northern Virginia area might do well to visit these guys:

Welcome to 4x4Land Official Website, Our Address 14065 WILLARD ROAD CHANTILLY, VA 20151. Phone: (703)263-3307 Fax: (703)263-2317. LAND ROVER VIRGINIA

When I first got my truck it came with one worn-out fob and I was concerned it would soon fail completely. I priced a replacement (parts and labour) at the Chantilly, VA dealer and blanched at the price -- most of $400 -- but found 4x4Land literally 5 minutes away on the other side of Rte 28.

Long story short, they charged me their cost for the cut key (from the Chantilly dealer, ha) and $50 for labour to program it, total bill $213 incl tax. It took less than 10 minutes to do the programming.

The shop owner told me they do it as a way to get new owners into their shop. It worked!
