Get the Kent cam
Don't use URO coolant parts
Do the inline thermostat mod
Do the PCV mod
Do use the Carrs4x4 metal parts

Mine has gone around 50K miles
Likes Rotella 15w-40 oil
Hates URO plastic bits, all replaced now
Does leak a bit

Other than the URO T bleeder deal failing on me the Turner engine has been daily driver reliable. The shop that did the swap used URO parts which I have swapped out and then went to the inline thermostat mod.
I would love to get the Carrs4x4 expansion tank but it appears they no longer sell it. Looking at Allisport

Will be doing all those other things you suggested. Very encouraging to hear your good experience with the Turner engine, thanks for sharing. Getting the Kent camshaft, stoked for the torque.

We do roadtrips in our D2 with 4 people, dogs, bikes on the back, lots of gear on the roof.... The Turner engine and cam I believe really help with steep long grades and maintaining speed.

I replaced the transfer case with an Ashcroft one and debated getting a 1.3 vs 1.2 to help with the taller than stock tires I'm running.

But I stayed with 1.2 to help with mpgs for the rest of the time.

I managed to get a Carrs4x4 expansion tank and run that. Believe those have a lower PSI cap and similar to running the stock cap a click open.

When had the work done on my D2 was new and naive to owning an older Rover. Super glad I did the Turner engine but with hindsight I would have spec'd different soft parts like not using URO. Did refresh the cooling system (water pump, radiator, coolant, hoses... with the swap).

What coolant are you running in your cooling system? Dexcool or Peak or otherwise?

This will likely cause a religious war, rip in time space, cats and dogs to live together in peace... Zerex Pink which is the Asian formula.

I don't remember why, but after 5yrs or so things are just fine and I see 183' F operating temp with the inline thermostat.

Anyways, I'll go run and hide and prepared to be kickoff the forum.

“And Sean Maginess was permanently banned from the forums for writing Land Rover heresy.”

That’s interesting though, Zerex. I have a 98 Jaguar XJ8 that calls for Zerex G-05, and as I’m reading now on the forums I see some other people using Zerex for their Discos. After getting warned away from Dexcool early on in my Rover owning life, I switched to Peak. Then recently saw a couple things about Dexcool that made me wonder if I had strayed from the path of Rover Righteousness. Glad to know there are fellow heretics out there. I may just switch to Zerex too.

I also run pink Zerex but for euro vehicles so its labeled as G40. I mainly use it because its also compatible with Porsche coolant in case I need to top off my 911 for some reason.

I'm also not very oil religious. T4 or T5 Rotella 15w-40 which is ever cheaper is my usual. But I've run 20w-50 Valvoline and what ever a local independent Rover shop has used when they've changed it. Mostly I focus on 3000 mile changes vs exactly which oil.

I have 2018 XFS Sportbrake and my wife has a 2019 F-Pace. Both are under warranty and with service plans, so they get the orange stuff for coolant and dealer serviced.
