I've never even heard of Rislone until you brought it up just then.

Chip's will work in a turbo vehicle, not won't do much for a D2. Just drive it and be satisfied.

 

You should never solder a chip into anything. If you have a turbo vehicle(like I do) get the ecu flashed to run more boost. Then you can use a softloader to go back to stock if you wish.

 

I have never used rislone by brand name, but have 1st hand experience using zinc additive in a Mini Cooper engine that was tweaked to within an inch of its life. Zinc works. If you read up on brad penn engine oil- that is the new version of the old Kendal 1 that many hardcore racers used in air cooled applications when rocker and cam wear would ruin a new motor quickly.Food for thought.

wow i'm a new guy so i'm not going to get into a pissing contest but i don't get it. i know guys that race triumphs (TR8) and they use if not the same a very similar Rover V8 motor and you can not only produce a lot of power but you can also re-map the ignition and increase fuel efficiency depending on motor setup.

You can modify the way an engine works, the "chips" that people buy online for cheap are almost always bullsh*t. I have a Stage II MTE tune on my Volvo. It is a very real thing, it increased boost from 14 to 18PSi, giving a real difference in power. You can't really do much to a Rover V8, it's just a sh*tty engine.

I would find it suprising if a chip made a difference in these motors, but I will say that ruling out the possibility due to the fact that LR doesn't install them from the factory is flawed logic, as there are many other cars out there that do benefit form chips (other than turbo cars obviously), such as my 1993 BMW 3 series had a DINAN chip that really did make a difference in the butt dyno.

Just from looking at the headers on these things, that's the first performance mod that I would do, those things look very restrictive.

Car manufactures have emissions to worry about, which is why some engines can be easily chipped, but you will not get more power AND better MPG's, that is an oxymoron. With the few exceptions on turbo cars that is.
