What is a 'glasspack'? is it just a re-packable external exhaust muffler? similar to the type I was 'forced' to use (by the FIA eco warriors) on my Caterham and F2 cars due to the 105dba noise restrictions.

how about a rear muffler/resonator?

ORF- these glasspacks are the opposite of what you wrote about. these ones make noise, not muffle/reduce it.

I don't know if they're re-packable, but it is just a straight muffler with a fiberglass surround. I always thought they were louder than standard mufflers especially once the fiberglass burns away after some use.

Just get a cherry bomb then. I had 2 of them on my S60R because they were the only ones small enough to fit

no they are not repackable.

They are repackable, but you have to cut it open, repack, and reweld. With the cheap cost of a glasspacks it's not really worth it.

The RAC MSA ensemble with the FIA enforced silencing race cars and these repackable exhaust boxes were then developed. I had to conform latterly as it formed part of scrutineering. These were repackable with either a special fibre or glass wool according to your race car setup and the circuit noise restrictions. All of this went a long way to increasing racing costs and slowly killing the sport in favour of the tree hugging eco greenos wishes, sad really.

so it ain't saving the planet or the noise humans complained about it's the
f----king trees eh, no wonder they call them tree huggers.............. errr, very few short circuits have trees in close proximity, they cut em all down thankfully cos they were too dangerous.

Nah, it's all about those with money, town councillors and influence and instigated by those t0ssers who bought their houses near the old circuits many years after the circuits were in existence which are usually on old airfield sites anyways
