Default Going for the 04, three amigos questions

Im looking at a 04 disco with 98k for 6,000$ It however has the three amigos, being a d1 owner and not fully understanding the traction control fixes, is this ever a EXPENSIVE fix, or is it usually just sensors and such. Do you have to have special computer diagnostics to find the problem or how do you guys figure it out yourself?

Spence, the easiest way to diagnose the Amigos is with an abs amigo: http://rswsolutions.com/index.php?op...d=56&Itemid=55. There are a few guys here that rent theirs out for a small fee.

Once you have the codes, and know which component to check, the repairs are pretty straight forward. Josh (jycsalas) has a few highly detailed repair procedures in the "Sticky" section for the common repair of the ABS shuttle valves and shuttle valve switch.

Do not fear the amigos. We D2 members are as helpful as the D1 guys

For somone able and willing to work on their own vehicle, I think the Amigos are a godsend as the dealer would likely charge a huge amount to replace parts and not actually address the problem if it is the Shuttle Valve or seals. Read the sticky.

...like repair the problem for $20 and some time, instead of replacing parts at the dealer for over $1,000.
