For what it is worth, the old stand by OME H.D. is still the best way to go with a short lift. It is also available in an extended length from GBR.
There are some other shocks, like Pro Comp,s that talk it up big but are not good at all for our Disco's and the Bilstein, but it is actually shorter then the factory shock.

Aren't 2" springs a bit short for a Land Rover?

I figured the OME would be the most popular and I will take a look at the others you mentioned. I think the 255/70 series tires will give me the thinner more classic rover look I am going for and the AT RHS tires are reasonably priced. 32 inches is still a lot of tread, we will see.
