my friend is looking into buying a disco II.

D) Me and him are pretty young guys, and I'm sure it is the most frowned upon gesture here, but whats the deal with lowering a land rover? I've always thought my LR3 could use some spice, just wondering about a disco. Would it hinder anything a land rover can do (we aren't going off roading in these. typical suburban drivers).

Just an FYI, that is a Disco I not II. And I would ask at least $1000 off (but im not 100% on US to Canada conversion). But you really have to figure out what kind of seller they are, some are really easy to talk down, others, not so much.

As for partD, I am just looking out for you when i say this.... If you lower a disco, espesially a Disco I, you will get laughed at. Maybe even attacked. I have never seen a Disco I lowered, lifted yes, lowered no way. I'm not saying it cant be done, and I'm not saying not to do it. BUT if your friend does something like that, watch his back at all times! An LR3 might get away with it, but i would rather go for the adventure look than the gangster look. But hey, its your truck!

The price seems a teensy bit high, but the truck is clean. Mileage isn't high and the seats look great. Not sure how the Canadian market is, but someone just sold a teal colored 98 with the same mileage that looks terrible. Interior and paint were gross and heavily worn. They had just done the heads and got $4000 US for it. It was only there a week.

That said, I got mine 4 years ago for $3000, but it was really rough.

How does the price compare to other Disco I's in your area. Here in Dallas they would range between $3500 and $4500 depending on condition, mileage and maintenance. I bought my 97 in December. It has maintenance records, new tires, tinted windows, Alpine sound system, new headliner, 105K and is in very good condition for 97. Paid $4500.
If you check it out and feel good about the vehicle and are comfortable with the price you pay.......
