Default Got my Tom Woods. Suggestions for install??

OK, I'm happy as can be, cause I got the Tom Woods front drive shaft in on Thursday. Tomorrow ill be the big day....

The way I understand it is really simple: unbolt the old one, bolt on the new one. Is that true?? Come on, this is a Discovery..., nothing comes easy...

Does anybody have suggestions to make this job even easier than it already sounds?

Cheers!

Pretty much everything I've done on my Discovery was too simple.

I hope I can say that too in a year, after I have done everything for a first time!

I must admit that I was intimidated by induction cleaning, changing the fluids, bleeding the brakes, etc. until I finally just did it. The best part is that the car still runs!

Hello, I'm new to the world of Disco's. I bought a 2000 Disco2 with 86000mi a week ago. I am starting the 60000mi service, and as I understand it, I will need to replace my front driveshaft also. What did your Tom Woods cost as opposed to buying the parts to rebuild it myself? I love these trucks, what beasts.

I paid $389 plus $5 handling charge. Like you can read in different posts, it seems like a bit of money, but is nothing compared to the money you will be spending when the old U-joints fail. Good chance you will need a new transmission at that point! I will do the installation this morning and post anything odd I came across...

Cheers!

Tom Woods is installed! BUT, now I have some vibration I did not have before... After I was done with the install I did a 50 mile trip and as soon as I would go 75mph or faster, a deep zooming sound and vibration became noticeable. Would that be because the shaft is not properly balanced? Or did I do something wrong? I did not take the shaft apart when I got it and installed it right out of the box... Any ideas?

Secondly, while on the freeway it feels like the car does a bit more rocking back and forth, could that be a result of the new shaft too? It is almost as if I can feel the road more now, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but an observation.

Thanks for your input!
