Hey yesmar, congrats on your new truck, I am sure you will come to love it as we all love ours! I am a 12 volt tech and can help you with most of your issues. I specialize in audio/video and security systems but know most vehicles pretty well all the way around. I can tell you (aside from what Spike said) you will need the radio code to unlock it (however by the sounds of it that may not do you any good if it has been modified), I am not sure if anyone on here can help you get the code. The panel facing the back seats had an ashtray in it for the rear seats and I would be willing to bet they tore it up to run wires for an aftermarket amp under one of the front seats. That is where I put my distribution block for my amp power wires, and I would assume many installers would do the same.

under the glove box there is a cardboard cover that goes down to the floor to cover those wires, it is common for it to be kicked and broken (mine is currently in the cargo space in the back!)

Antilock brakes in these trucks are one of the most common problems, there is a fuse under the hood that can be removed to disable the ABS system (it may already be gone) these are VERY expensive systems to repair so most of us just pull the fuse. I tried to fix it once and then almost rolled through a stop sign and into traffic because the ABS system acted up again, later that day I removed the ABS fuse and the ABS bulb and have never looked back.

the rear windows not working is another common problem, Cracked window ECU board I believe was the diagnosis. I have not had this problem myself but I am sure there are many guys on here that will be more than happy to help you with that one.

great chris thank you very much. i do have 5 numbers i saw written on the radio when i pulled it out. .. ive tried the code a couple time but all it does is beep at me. i know to let the car sit with the electric and radio on for 30min. to reset it, but i think i will just put an after pioneer cd player i have from another car into it. i just wonder what kind of condition the speakers are in.

thanks for the abs trick i see its like the audi check engine light. "if the light ISN'T then youve got problems" haha

short of visually inspecting and metering the impedance, there isn't much you can do other than just hooking up and listening to the speakers. I can answer any questions you might have on installing that Pioneer. I would look around the truck for the radio code (mine was written under the hood, over the radiator), I have found them literally all over in vehicles, so just look around.

as for the brake light itself being on, I would check the fluid level as there is a sensor on the reservoir that will trigger that light. I think someone else mentioned at one point that there may be another reason that light comes on. Spike or Disco Mike should know for sure.

I would also strongly suggest you download the rave manual, I am not sure where you get it however since you do your own work it is a PDF type of repair manual. It also contains the owners manual and all other literature.

great thank you! i did manage to download a repair manual but im still hunting down an owners manual. im also going to get a haynes manual, i dont have a lap top and i like a hard copy in the garage.
yes i'm almost positive the brake light is due to the lack of brake fluid. i got the car on saturday and since i got it out of state its getting inspected. so ive only really had the car 1 day. i dropped it off on monday and i SHOULD be getting it back tomorrow. they are waiting for 2 tires to come in. i just got cheapo stock size tires to pass pa state inspection. i will get a bit bigger and more aggressive tires when i can afford 5 new ones.

well i may have some questions reguarding the radio when i can take a closer look at it. thanks alot

if anyone happens to stumble across a link to an owners manual please let me know.

I would talk to the guys about the tires as well, these trucks are EXTREMELY heavy and I have heard that because of that the bigger off road tires are not as effective as they are on Jeeps and other trucks.

Thumbs up

ok some updates I've had my car for some time now, i managed to get ahold of this nice guy who was parting out a disco 1 so i got the front passenger carpet replaced and the rear ash tray in. also i did figure out the radio code, the trick is to type it in as fast as you can.

we have successfully put well over a thousand miles on the landy within a week and a half of getting it back from its inspection. so according to my fiance, it passes. we will be keeping it. during that week we went down to the obx and did some light off roding in the sand and when i got home, my buddy and i sort of "put it to the test" and MAN am i impressed. and the truck is great and holding up 100%!!!

ive been surfing around and i am a big fan of the the skinnier tall rugged tiers but the most(usual) off roding we do is in the sand. i don't know about tires yet, ill put it off for now ...

now its up to 2,000 miles since i got it and all I've had to do is sea-foam it and swap out the oil and filter.
