Default Great Price on a Window Regulator But ...

I had a regulator get funky on my D2 soon after I bought it. It made a nasty sound when I closed the window so I pulled the door panel and lowered the window to check the rollers and in the process folded up one of the arms which had a broken roller. I straightened it out enough to get the window up and ordered a new one from a west coast Rover supplier. It was only $35! I installed it after it arrived and when I put the window up, it made a clunking noise at the limit. I lived with it for a while then the glass started to drop about 1/4" after it was closed, then it stopped closing al together. I pulled it out over the weekend and found a bunch of the teeth had sheared off. The gear on the regulator must have been welded on out of alignment causing the teeth to only partially engage. Nice. I had saved the old regulator so I was able to swap over one of the rollers after pounding the bent arm back into shape.

Wonder if anybody else has seen this.

"You should have ordered the genuine ones"

Oh wait...they're garbage too!

It'd be nice if someone produced a quality version that wouldn't break.
