That white 2001 looks Ok. But I would be leery of buying any Rover with 98,000 unless I put the miles on and did the service since 50k. you can never really tell how it has been taken care of. It was also missing the HI/Lo shifter shroud in the pictures.
One of the of the cool cosmetic features of the 2003/2004 are the head lights. They really make the truck look sharp. Also the 4.6L has nice power. Though I have not driven a 4.0 to compare. I would heavily consider a 2003 or 2004 (Make sure the 2003 is out of the oil pump VIN range.) My 03 has treated me well. I have been meticulus about mantainance and done 98% of it myself. Bad oil pump VIN range is the last 8 digits here is the range.

Awesome thx Boss. I will IM those numbers to the wife and let tell her to toss 03's in the mix. She likes the 04s though the best. Unfortunately they are $. But she starts work next month so we might be able to go higher on something nice. She found a nice 04 w/carfax in Columbia, SC:

But I need to ask what the heck was the rig doing for the last 20k miles. Looks like it just switched dealers and the dealer drove it? lol

Not to make this thread a "shop for sloan" thread, but if you're willing drive you can get a good deal. Here's a white 01 (not sure on the CDL) that's only got 72k and looks to be in good shape for $6500 OBO. Almost sprung for this one, but wife liked the 03-04 headlights.

Good little drive but it might be worth it if you can negotiate a little. But my ALL means DON'T get a Patriot. If an SUV could have a wedgie, it's got a BAD one. Violently ugly weenie-mobile is what I call it. Makes the Gaylander look muscular...*puke* *puke* *breathe* *puke*

EDIT! Displaying my supreme knowledge of the Mopar lineup these days, I have confused the Patriot with the Compass. The Patriot is actually fairly cool. The Compass makes me want to blind myself with a spoon.

Yeah we already have the Patriot. It's a good little 2.5L commuter/long distance runner.

I got it brand new on the Obama "cash for clunkers" last June for 10k. Rolled up a backfiring, piece of garbage 01 Ford Windstar and got 4k trade in on it. lol!

Any Disco while it has luxury will not have power, the 4.6 only has 200 or so ponies, the 4.0 in a DII has 188, the DI has 180.
They will pull 7500lbs no problem, but it wont be fast.

Sold the jeep YJ this afternoon at 5 PM (buyer drove 1.5 hours to shop 3 jeeps in the Charlotte area). Buying is coming next Saturday to purchase.

I found this locally, 15 minutes from the house. Went and looked at it at 6PM. Seller is a private dealer, owns his own construction business and buys and sells imports as a hobby, small form of income, etc. He buys and sells no more than 1-2 cars at once out of his house. We talked for a long time. Looking at his garage and I am pretty sure he does not buy and sell "crap".

Man, it was well taken care of.....very well taken care of....

Carfax checked out, it passed a solid test drive. Everything worked. Compared to the 4 discos II the wife and I looked at yesterday afternoon this thing was mint....it buried the 04 we looked at.....buried.....

We talked the price for a few and drew up a bill of sale. Long as my jeep sells 6 days from today, which I am 100% positive it will, I will be the owner.

From my pocket, it's pretty much a trade for my jeep minus a few hundred bucks,

Wife is very excited. She has her power locks and I have my luxury compact v8 with a future mod project in store.

If all goes well I will post an introduction thread next Saturday. I can turn wrenches so hope to bring a lot to the forum community, meet some friends and have some fun.

That one that you just posted close to you looks nice. Hopefully by 119k it had the head gaskets done. Make sure you have plenty of REPAIR/Mod money!

Looks like you might need new front bake pads soon on that one. Also the plastic trim around the wheel arches is faded out, Mine has it really bad aswell. The plastic turns into a Sand Paper like grainy Light grey. They obviously "Black Magic'ed" the trim, witch is hard to do because of its texture.

Yeah I plan on starting the 60k maintenance asap. It was super nice to score one under budget. Super nice indeed. As you suggested leaves money for other things.

Awesome! If you have a chance and maybe an extra $500 laying around sometime, swap the rims with some 18" hurricanes. Makes EVERY single Disco look at least twice as good. Also if you're really ambitious, check out this thread on upgrading the headlights to the '03-'04 kind.

http://www.lrrforums.com/showthread.php?t=3244

Then, considering you have diff lock, you'll look (look, because obviously you have the 4.0) just like an '04 (minus the rear tail lights and maybe a few other minor details)!

Congrats and looking forward to your contribution to the fun and hilarity around here...

Dude you must have really good eyesight to be able to see the brake pads Either way good point...Brake dust build up = 3 Amigos visit! (Que the mariachi band)

For the trim....Camdisco24 posted a great thread in the "how to" section on repainting them. $10 and a couple hours and they will look brand new.

And (pending) Congrats sloan74! Gotta love coming in under-budget. Hopefully you found a gem, it will make all the difference having a Disco that has been taken care of.
