Well if I take photos it'll be of the whole radiator and thermo replacement and it won't be me doing it. Whenever I do anything myself it takes so long that I never have time for photos haha.

I have always thought that an 8mm view of the underside of a Disco would make an oil company stockholder proud.....

So if you just show the hands of the tech do you need a model release?

This was the easiest fix of anything I have ever done on the rover. Only three clamps and less than 15 minutes. I just started with the highest clamp and worked my way down letting the fluid drip into several pans setup underneath. Maybe Zach can post some pictures as he'll probably drain his and change the fluid while he's at it. My thermostat, hoses, and coolant were just changed with the head gasket so I only swapped out the Thermostat and topped the fluid back off which took about .75 gallon.

The temps in my 2000 D2 seem to run on the high side of normal (206-209 on the road, 211-215 at idle), so I'm about to swap my thermostat for the soft-spring version. I have a question about cabin heat, however, since I live in the north and that's an issue for most of the year. Does the grey thermostat cause any appreciable change in heater performance?

SWMBO, on the rare occasion that she's in the truck, seems to notice such things and is usually quick to comment.

Thanks.

Not to much, just the 0-20 MPH and a few lights, like the sport, battery, and manual shifting mode. But the data it shows is far more important then the few things it covers up. The only one I'd really need to see is the battery light, but the ultra gauge has the volts on screen. And its just velcro with the wire pushed in behind the panel, so it can be completely removed from the car in a couple seconds.

Yeah, those M&S lights and the immobilazation reminder that are always flashing.... a little more to the left and the 3 Amigos could be blocked out of memory.

I swapped in the grey t-stat in early March when we still had plenty of mornings in mid-20's and I did not notice any change in warm-up time or heater performance.

The coolant temps did drop by about 10 degrees however. It now runs 190-194 on the highway, 199-206 around town, and usually idles at 201.

All temps from the Ultra Gauge.

I tried the Minneapolis dealer today. The said that, since it is technically the thermostat for the diesel engine, it is classified as a euro part and they cannot order it.
