Grill Mesh for Landrover Disco 2
I just started my mod on my grill. I saw the write-up mod for the disco 1 on this forum and liked the look, so I went ahead and started the mod on my Disco 2 truck. I will post pics tomorrow.
With all my repairs, the list will probaly get longer.Ha! Helps me remember what I've done, so far.
Finally figured out how to mount the grill mesh securely to D2 grill. I've included some pics.
Pic.1 before grill is cut - Make sure you pry landrover emblem off original grill carefully to epoxy on your new grill mesh
Pic. 2 after grill is cut
Pic. 3 Close up of how I planned on attaching the mesh. Instead of epoxying it directly to the plastic I bought two pieces of aluminum from home depot 1/8th thick 3/4" x 48".
Next I cut the aluminum to length, top, bottom, both sides of inside grill. I epoxied the aluminum to the plastic, clamped, let dry.
Next I put the grill mesh over the aluminum/lined up and pre drilled holes. I got washers & screws, see last pic to see size of screws/washers and spaced them across the mesh. Warning!!! Be very careful pre-drilling and make sure you don't drill all the way through the aluminum because if you do you might go through the plastic!
MORE PICS TO COME!
Just waiting on the epoxy to dry before screwing on mesh.

I've been thinking about fabricating a metal grill. These plastic grills are really a pain in the butt. Looks like such a tough vehicle, but then something cracks with any little bump. Looking at the pictures gives me a couple ideas about how to get it done.
Can't wait to see how it looks when you're done.

Finally finished, all I need to do is install it. Here are some pics. The mesh is from Home Depot, its a gutter guard and costs under $3.00. No cutting, its a perfect fit for the disco 2. You could spray paint it black if you'd like, but I like the stainless look.
