Default Grille guard requiring a cut?

I called a person selling a grille guard for 300 dollars and he claims that it is a factory grille guard. I asked him if the installation is straight forward, but he said "the right side of the bumper needs to be cut a little", and this seemed odd for a factory assessory. He has a 2000 discovery series 2, and well, the pictures are shown on the bottom, sorry for the closeups, i asked for the pictures of damages rather then the whole thing.

From the pictures shown below, can anyone make a judgment on whether or not it's the original factory grille guard or not? And is his cutting or trimming of the right side of the bumper correct or common?

Default RE: Grille guard requiring a cut?

Yes,It's an OEM brush guard, and yes you do have to cut a small section out of the front bumper for the right hand mounting bracket to fit through. There is a removable rectangle piece on the opposite side of the bumper that can just be removed to allow the bracket to go through that side.Remember, cutting your bumper is a one shot deal,so measure three or four times before you drill your pilot hole.Better yet,try to make a template from another bumper that has already been cut.The job is pretty easy if you're good with your hands, just take your time.
