Default Grocery List

This may be to much for one post, but I have a grocery list of issues (mostly minor) that I would like to get some advice on. Several of these issues I have found information on the postings but these I haven't been able to find. If anyone can give me some insight into the issues or possible fixes, I would appreciate it. I have a 1995 Discovery.

1. (newest issue) When i first start driving, my tachometer will stay at about 700 RPM and there is a loud "squeeling" sound (similar to a belt squeeling). After a few miles the tach will jump back up to whatever the engine speed is and the squeeling stops.

2. Neither of my back windows will go down. There are no fuses blown. They just don't move at all.

3. I can't open the rear door from the inside. It will only open with the key from the outside (might be a feature, not a problem, I don't know)

4. The washer fluid sprayers on the back and on the headlights do not work. I don't hear anything when i try to use the rear washer (the wiper works when i do this).

I think that is it for now. I'm sure that I will post a few more, I've just forgotten them right now.

Default RE: Grocery List

Check your window lift ECU behind your glove box. I think there is a write up on www.discoweb.org under the tech tab.

I would start with replcing your belt. Cheap and never hurts if you don't know how old it is. From there I would move to the tensioner. Usually your tach going haywire is a symptom of your alternator going out. I would make sure your belt is turning it properly first, but it may be getting ready to lock up. I would spin the pulley and check the bearings while you have the belt off....

There are anti-drain back valves on the washer lines that can become clogged. The headlight washers only come on briefly every 3rd time the front washers come on, if you have the lights on (not sure about the last part) search for the MFU test procedure on here. I think you have the same one. I should beep for correct signals..
