Grocery Getter!
How many times have you heard someone refer to a Rover as a "Grocery Getter"? I've heard it quite a few times and I guess in many cases it's true. However, all those grocery gettin Rovers out there have the same off road and utility potential as the ones which are actually being used that way. For the most part, my 97 Disco takes me to work and home but it also sees it's fare share of rugged dirt roads, pulling trailers, and full loads.
Yesterday I loaded it up with 17 bags of concrete (80 lbs each - 1360 pounds). Then I strapped a concrete mixer (probably 150 lbs) to the back and drove about 15 miles home.
I'd like to see some of the other "SUV's" out there do the same!!
Here's some pics....

Think about it, not to sound sexist, but many women drive Discovery's, hence the term, "grocery getter." I see more women drive them then men do. Case in point, mine was a "grocery getter", the T-Case lever to lock the diff and go into low was stuck, due to lack of use. When I bought it, the husband admitted to me that all his wife did was drive it to the market, soccer practice/games, mall, and to the local Starbucks, and other places.
I can't speak for any other women, but I make sure my Disco II sees mud on a regular basis in the summer and lots of snow in the winter!! It is the highlight to my childrens week when we jump in "Lucy " ( son named her) and get her oh so dirty!!
That's one of the reasons he married me - We get muddy, go fishing, I cook alot, drink beer, and love football. The only thing he doesn't like is I pulled his Ford truck out of the swamp in Louisiana when we went back home for a visit!!!
Oh I highly doubt it. He gripes about my truck -- but deep down he loves it!!! He still has to maintain his so called "man image" to the podunks around here!! They make fun of my car all the time, but it's the first one everyone wants to pile in to go somewhere!![8D]

its too bad that Ford bought Landrover though. Maybe your husband will get rid of the Ford and get a Rover!!!!
