This is also a great point - mud and snow are opposites. For mud you want a wide tread pattern to allow the mud to be ejected from the tread. For snow, you actually want snow to pack into the tire to maximize snow traction. Siping also helps with this and also helps tremendously in the rain which is another benefit to the Falken MT over the Firestone MT (more siping), though I have not been disappointed in rain performance of the Firestones.

I do not have any experience with the BFG KM3, though I will say I have historically been unimpressed with the KO2 when compared to other AT offerings on the market.
