Default Handgun storage

So here in the beautiful state of Arizona we are able to carry firearms. As a person with a concealed weapon permit I almost always have a pistol with me. Sometimes I'm not able to take it with me and am forced to leave it in the car. I'd like to keep it within reach of the driver's seat. Does anyone have a good gun safe option for the Disco II? The glove box and console are too small and there isn't enough space under the driver's seat. I've seen a lot of options online but I'd like to hear from someone with first hand experience. I'd also like it to be budget conscious: around $200 or less and without modifying the vehicle too much. Thanks!

Unless you are planning on bolting the safe through the floor it isn't going to do anything but give the thief a safe to go along with your gun. Don't bolt to anything plastic like the center console or they will just tear up your truck while stealing your gun and gun safe.

I have been thinking of bolting a quickdraw gunsafe to the drivers side transmission tunnel. Just like in the picture here but on the drivers side so the gun is damn near on my hip when I need it. Quick draw McGraw

It's about $260 so it may be more then you want to spend.

Oh yeah
1/4" angled on the inside and plated the back of console with 1/8" plate. Outside not necessary.
The inside angles foot out and bolt through floor. There are millions of ways to reinforce down through floor and still mount on console. The safe is the weakest point.

That safe was the exact one I was looking at. I would need to figure out exactly how to mount it tho because I feel like it may be too big for that space. I'm 5'7" so I sit kind of closer.

And not to start any debates but I carry a full size Colt 1911.

Yes...the elusive Sonoran elephant.

After shooting/owning every major brand, the 1911 is the one I come back to every time. It goes hand in hand with the discovery: high maintenance schedule, nostalgic design and they still can't be beat!

the factory console and the fact that land rover used all the space under the seats does not leave much option in the front.

I'd trust Dusty's opinion, there's no question about his ability to carry guns.
