I had this issue the first two times I filled up my truck at two different gas stations. I, like you, thought it was something to do with the truck. Tried a different gas station the third time and viola, problem gone. Been going to that gas station pretty much ever since, unless I'm out of town.

Your vent tube is clogged, I think you just need to replace it.
I too have had this problem but I went to a different gas station and no problem.

OMG (sorry for the valley girl response but...)
I have this same exact problem on my 01 Disco II!!!! I have to stand there and hold it every so gently with the trigger-thingy in a half pulled postion. I thought it was the station but I read here that others have the same problem. I've tried repositioning the nozzle because I thought that maybe air was getting in somehow. That didn't work.

I have the same problem as well and have never noticed it in any other vehicle I have ever owned, so I always thought it is a combination of the 2. some stations may flow there fuel a little faster and the rover filler tube can only handle so much fuel so quickly?

I could only look at this problem with 1 of 2 solutions 1. get over it and plan for an extra minute while fueling up, or 2. get a different truck!

I still drive my rover!

I have also had this problem before. In my situation the purge valve needed to be replaced. Now I can pump gas wherever I want. It is a simple fix if you only replace the valve and the top half of the line. It is more expensive than I remember but if you have to get a smog test you must have this to pass. The part is a charcoal canister purge valve (http://roverparts.com/Parts/WTV100150G.cfm) if this link doesn't work check at atlantic british.

I have a problem with filling up the gas tank. I get about 3 to 4 gallons into her and then it acts like the tank cannot hold anymore gas, and shuts the pump off. Yet, knowing that I still have a ways to go.

Can anyone tell me whats going on?

I have the feeling that it has something to do with the fuel canistor on the right fender well..
Welcome any and all comments.

John
Check your evap vent system check your vent tube from your vent solenoid see if any dirt or spider webs in or your canister is clogged.
