Default Are Harmon Kardon Speakers Plug and Play

I have an 01 SE7 with a OEM Alpine head unit and the stock Phillips speakers and I am thinking of upgrading the speakers. Especially the cargo door sub woofers. I was thinking of some used Harmon Kardon units from a wrecked 04. Does anyone know if these are plug and play with the Phillips units and if they are a worthy upgrade over the Phillips?

I think it depends greatly on how your truck is wired. Do you have an amp under the driver's seat?

I have the Highline system with a amp under the seat and subwoofers in the rear cargo door. Those are the ones that really don't make much sound.

I don't believe they are. I know for a fact that it's not the case w/ the sub in the rear door- the Philips sub that comes with the Alpine system plugs into the HK system but doesn't sound right. But- I've never tried plugging HK bits into the Alpine/Philips system.

the HK subwoofer will plug into the Phillips subwoofer Jack in the rear cargo door. The HK speakers have a bigger magnet. The sound coming out of the rear subwoofer will mostly have low frequency bass due to the crossover. You may think it’s dead unless you listen closely. Many of these rear speakers are blown. Bad voice coils and bad foam. I’m trying to discover a good replacement speaker. Measure the ohms. It should be around 3-4 ohms.

Is this a record for resurrecting an old thread and creating a zombie (last post November 2013).

Just about every thread that Lcagee posts on is a zombie thread.

Got to give him credit for researching his issues! instead of us saying "do a search on the forums....."

True enough. But one has to wonder a bit about the value of the research if the questions aren't being asked more than a couple of times a decade.
