I am going to take out the nav deck (becker) and put in a Disco deck with the cassette. I think someone added the nav deck to my 04 because the cd-changer won't work and the nav deck is loose in the dash.
I tried the file hanger thing but I couldn't make it work. I have a parts disco with the deck that works with the cd-changer.

I would like to put in a 03-04 single disc in my 2000. My 6 disc changer does not work and IMO not worth the hassle. I have not found out if it would an easy swap and have not received any answers in my thread. Since you have Both do you know if it would be a direct swap. Thanks

Waterfowl, all i know is the rave manual shows the same connections/cables, ie: three multiplugs and two coax cables. I am not sure. I have a question in another thread to a senior guy on here who knows this stuff and and am waiting for his reply. It 's in the 3rd row seats thread.

I made a set for my Audi using the "hanging file folder" contraption. Not my picture below, but it shows how to cut the ends off.

I cut the ends off to a point. Not sure if the DII's are the same.

You actually need the ends with the notches. It's kind of hard to explain but you push them in until they make a little click and then pull the radio out with them. I wish I had a picture of the top of the radio. If you saw the latch on the top it would make perfect sense.

How are you able to pull it out though?

I'm using the hanging file method now and I can get them to click but when I pull it out it keeps releasing the hanging file.

I used tweezers, split them than insert in slots you will hear a click, than take 2 flat head screwdrivers on opposite sides of the radio and pry slowly/carefully, works perfectly.

jam two rigid pieces of thin metal about 1/4 inch wide in the holes and pull by sticking your fingers in the cassette hole.

when i installed the grom unit in my disco, i had done all the searches. the pepboys ford radio removal tool can't be used for the disco II, because like another member posted, the tool is circular. i don't have any hanging files anymore, but what i did have, and used, was the brackets for curtain rods. yeah, i know, the mrs was super pissed. you can see the width of the bracket used on my posted pics. bent it straight, inserted and jammed my fingers into cassette opening and pulled. now i understand what the other posters had said about notches. DUH!!!! on my part.
