Hate to admit I bought a clunker , but,
the ' 04 I bought to replace the '01 I wrecked hasn't been panning out to well. I went to Montreal and got it and drove it home the same day. The problem was it was -27 that day. Thats cold even for a canuck. It only had 70k miles and stupid me I believed the owner when he said everything was good.
I didn't check it over as well as I should have.
I have replaced the hoses and the housing /gasket for the throttle body heater. I still havn't got the air all out yet. I think I'm close.
I did the rear brakes c/w rotors and have to do the front.
I can't make the CDL work, I assume the cable is stuck.
I know it's not a lot but I already did all the maint on a '01 and I should have known better.
How hard is it to reset the odometer?
Just askin'

It's not easy to fool around with the digital odometers in today's cars and trucks. I believe the Odometer and the ECU both store the mileage and have to be sync'd if one or the other is replaced. It's not something your average joe can do with a $49.99 scanner from Autozone...
Does Carfax work with cars in Canada or is there a Canadian equivalent? You might want to check them out. If you're thinking that the truck is TMU (True mileage unknown) then you should try investigating with whatever the Canadian equivalent of the DMV is for the guys province.
Odometer fraud is a big deal. If the truck is TMU, then I hope you got it for next to nothing, because if it is TMU it won't be worth anything. You'd be looking at a minimum of a 40% markdown on the book value of the vehicle.

AFAIK the ECU stores the odo reading and the dash only displays it.
It is possible to mess with the odo reading if you have the right software, but as pointed out this is fraud.

If you bought a truck that was plated in the province of Québec, you can have the pedigree of all previous owners for 10$ but you must present yourself at a "bureau of vehicles" to get that info. It should show you when the truck changed owner and on the more recent transactions, the mileage.
Also, there is a service ( I'm not sure if it is Carfax) that does cover Canada car transactions, accident reports, repairs and insurance claims. I've used them online and it worked ok.

Also, I myself own a 2004 that comes from Montréal and got it at 68K last year. The PO probably didn't keven now what CDL was, he used to have the bulbs replaces at the dealer. The truck is a bit rusted underneath and suffered an overheating episode at 45K because of the TBH gasket. The CDL lever was probably unused and is running fine.
About the air, I had the timing cover gasket failed on me last Christmas. I stopped before the cooling system completely drained but still it missed 1-1/2 gallons. Did the gasket job and returned home, a 100 miles run. I took a lot of care to refil the system before leaving but still, I had to add the almost complete expansion tank twice on the way. After that, it's been ok. So you are right when you say air takes time to get out and you MUST keep an eye on it for the next few days, or when you buy one of these trucks.

Everything is easily fixable on these trucks. It does not sound like you have too many issues. Getting the air out should take 30 seconds, not sure how you are bleeding the coolant. Sometimes if the heater core is clogged it is impossible to bleed.
