Have 275/65/18 tyres fitted. Replace them with 255/55/18?

Exactly. The driveshaft needs to be upgraded regardless of anything. Just make sure the U-joints you get are high quality joints, and have grease zerks. Then be sure to grease them at no less than every other oil change.

Sorry for the confusion. Sounds like it's been cleared up I would check out GBRutah.com for a high quality front driveshaft. Lucky8 also has them.
