Hayden fan clutch & original fan?
Folks, I'm swapping out my 2003-4 1-piece fan (PGG000080) with the earlier 2-piece fan (ERR4960) from salvage. The Hayden 2781 fan clutch I ordered is in now in my hands. This fan clutch has perfectly aligned bolt holes (SAE 5/16-18 threads but whatever) but I'm surprised to discover that it is 182mm in diameter. The old fan clutch and the fan's center hub diameters are 163 mm.
Which of these statements is true, then?
I've misunderstood the numerous threads I've read through here; this fan clutch works only when paired with the Dorman 620-112 fan and does NOT work with the LR ERR4960 fan.
I've been sent the wrong fan clutch.
It's the first one, isn't it? Dang it.

Wow, I literally just came inside from doing this conversion. As stated, the Hayden fan clutch, 2781 and the Dorman fan blade assembly # 620-112 bolt together and replace the entire OEM fan/clutch assembly. You’ll need 4 5/16x18 bolts, about 1/2 deep.Got the parts from Rock Auto.

does this fan and clutch help cool it better or is the biggest benefit the fact that it's so much cheaper yet fits? $60 plus shipping for both is hard to beat. My fan and clutch seem to be fine, but I might just go ahead and swap them out if it's a big upgrade. it's about to start really getting hot here in Nashville.

the truck is new in my hands that's why I make those modifications.
My question should I change the fan blade and the clutch in order to optimize the performance and temperature of the engine...?

Do you have something like an Ultragauge or Scangauge OBD reader to monitor your coolant temp? I suggest getting one so that you have a baseline of your coolant temp.
Then read this to determine if the Hayden clutch and Doorman fan blade is necessary:
