Default HD Fan rubbing on top shroud

I put the new HD fan and clutch on a couple of weeks ago and the fan rubs the top shroud when under load acceleration. Has at least an inch gap when not running. I installed the parts numbers listed many times on the forum but have not found anyone else mentioning this issue.

it wore about roughly a 1/4" groove in the shroud but no damage done to the fan. I took the top shroud off and used a dremel flap disc to thin the area that was rubbing and will test it out tomorrow.

Anybody have this issue with this mod?

could this be my motor mounts? I could see that could be it but have no idea how to check them.

I'd certainly check the motor mounts. That sounds like a lot of movement.

First verify the lower shroud and the radiator itself are held into place properly. If all that is good I'd have the engine & transmission mounts checked or replaced.

That shop that said the parts didn't fit = totally clueless and had no idea what they were talking about!!!

I have ran this setup since 2014 on 3 D2's from 99 to 04 and if the radiator is supported properly, the lower shroud is mounted properly into the lower edge of the radiator, then yep that engine/trans/TC is moving around and causing it to rub no doubt about it.

I will put my LR reputation on the line when I say the Doorman 620-112 fan and Hayden 2991 fan clutch work on any 99-04 D2 or even an 00-02 P38 for that matter!

I am with @Best4x4 I use that combination there is lots of clearance - but your shroud must have all the top bolts. if you are missing any it can cause contact

100% motor mounts are shot. I will bet they come out in pieces when you replace them.
