Default Head Gasket Finished....Now What?!!!

Ok guys, here's a new one for me...hopefully someone out there has experienced this and can shed some light on what I need to do.

2001 Disco 2, 99k miles...replaced head gasket, had the heads machined and put new seals in, cleaned everything I took off and replaced water pump.

Now it won't start. I expected it to be rough until the new fluids circulated, but it won't turn over at all. It feels ( and sounds) I have reversed the plugs, but I've double checked and it's hooked up right.

After several attempts at starting, it pulses the starter and the Amigos are lit up. Codes are:
1. 0734 - Gear 4 incorrect ratio
2. P1668
3. P0560 - System Voltage

....two days later....

Charging the battery allow the disco to crank right up. I cleared all codes and drove around for 20 minutes or so. The new codes are:
0171 System too lean Bank 1
0174 System too lean Bank 2
0332 Knock Sensor 2 Circuit Low input Bank 2

Should I replace the MAF or are there other suggestions?

Low voltage? Try topping off the battery, or jumping.

Default powered up

ok, charged battery...now she cranks right up. Sounds good, runs smooth.

now I have the following codes:
0171 System too lean Bank1
0174 System too lean Bank 2
0332 Knock Sensor 2 Circuit low input Bank 2

should I replace the MAF? Is it safe to drive?

It's clean. Rovers don't like being clean. The knock sensor I'd check the wire on, but after a few miles, the 'system too lean' errors may just go away. A lot of us find the same codes when we do the Seafoam cleaning.

I was joking that that might be the case.....Thanks for the input. I have cleared the codes and we'll see what happens.

Default new issue

okay...the codes are repeating after being reset...I'm ok with waiting a little bit on those (you know, clean engine and all) However, when the truck is cold I'm experiencing some hesitation on acceleration. Any thoughts? I used a semi-synthetic 10w-40.

Default hesitation

the mechanic at work thinks the hesitation in acceleration is the O2 sensors. Anyone agree with him? Do I need to replace all four or is there a way to determine which one is bad?

Thanks....

On Mike's advice, I replaced the MAF and now all is well.... no codes, no issues, runs smooth...

Thanks everyone, especially Mike!
