Head gasket job Questions
I could do Hood cutouts easily enough, but I do not want to look like I am making a street rod either.
On the plus side I did coat the exhaust manifolds, so maybe more heat goes out the back.
He can probably get away with painting the throttle body intake upper area and removing the throttle body heater plumbing, plus painting the alternator and A/C brackets as well as polishing the alternator. Probably no harm in painting the heater pipes!
Temps may force him to remove the paint elsewhere, but his testing will show that, if so.

I removed it after the first test.
Anyway, look at your cats after engine startup just in case.
Well, the heater pipes were painted anyway. The Brackets mount to the Cylinder heads which don't really transfer heat. So I don't think the brackets would do any heat dissipation at all. The fans also blow directly below them towards the block so I don't know. I don't see how it could affect temp.
I am looking at installing a remote oil cooler. As soon as I have this project buttoned up and can evaluate temps I will look further into that.
I have the factory plastic splash guard under the engine.
I plan to keep it on there, to help keep dirt and mud off the engine.
I also plan to do temperature gun tests with and without it.
On one hand, with it off, more heat may be able to escape, with more air flow(even though heat rises). On the other, it may help direct more of the fan's air toward the engine, instead of down to the ground. It also increases gas mileage by .00001 mpg
Who knows, one way to find out.
If you are anyone else can do this before me, go for it, I'm still a few weeks away from getting mine running.

I got the Throttle Body removed, I had put the Drivers side breather hose in upside down, so I sorted that, and got 220 and 400 grit sandpaper and reconditioned the TB Heater Surface. It had a couple of dings and appeared rounded, for lack of a better term. Looks much better now.
Going to use the permatex aviation gasket sealer, and let it cure 24 hours. Hopefully, it lasts a long time, I can't remember when I did it last, some years ago.

Got the throttle body heater gasket changed, and throttle bady back on. 24 hours to allow the sealant to cure, no chances.
Was really disappointed I got a Britpart kit from L8, when the pic on the add was genuine. I should know better by now to never buy OEM no matter what is represented in the picture.
The bolts have to be screwed through the gasket which knocks off the threadlocker, so I had to clean that out of the gasket sealant and add loctite.
Why do Britpart gaskets not fit? Never again using a britpart gasket. I have been happy with other products, but their gaskets are crap.
