Default Head Gasket (post is now readable)

My 00 Disco with 120k miles over heated big time! Now it is pushing water out of the reservoir tank. Can’t drive it for more than a couple of miles before it starts overheating, there was even a stream of water coming out of the tube. I assume I have a blown head gasket…

Questions are-
What can I expect to pay to have it repaired? Out of that how much is the materials?
What other things are often needed? Valve job, new hoses, or? And what is a typical ball park of what they run?
Anyone know of a shop in Ventura, CA or SFV that is both reasonable and honest?

Thanks for any advice you may have!

www.atlanticbritish.com to price parts. You are looking at about $1200 parts and labor. Have the cylinder heads x-rayedfor cracks. If you continue to overheat the trk you are looking at a new engine. You will drop a cylinder liner and then your engine is toast. You also might warp or crack the heads.

First of all, QUIT driving it or you will be looking for a new engine.
Call Roy at East West Motors in Santa Barbara, he has one of the best shops on the coast.

I think $1200 is a little low but ggod luck anyway. Keep us informed about your experience. I'm sure I'll be in your shoes sooner or later.....

Thanks guys! I’ll give Roy a call, SB is within my AAA coverage.

We have been so busy at work that my company rented me a car. Sadly it is the cheapest subcompact they had, a Mustang. Driving it for a couple of weeks realy makes me miss the Discovery: )

BTW I drove it once after it overheated – I was hoping that the .001% chance that the HG was ok would come true….
