OEM are good gaskets. The problem with the gaskets are that owners do not change their oil at the 3000k Mark and the acids in the old oil eat away at the gasket material. Some anti freeze will actack the gasket material. The other problem is the expansion and contraction inherant with sleeve alm. engines rip the gasket. When installing a new gasket ligthly coat the gasket with Permatex 300 gasket sealant which with act as a shere surface.

First I've heard someone recommend using any sort of gasket sealant on a Disco head gasket. The OEM gaskets are a composite type gasket. Getting your cylinder heads planed and using new head bolts is the key. Aged Dex-cool and aluminum head warpage are generally the culprits.

Start off with nice clean, straight heads, new bolts and keep your coolant and coolant system maintained and you won't have to mess with your head gaskets again.
