@Sixpack577 I have them in my master list but missed copying them, I wish short and long blocks were cheaper. If the block is cracked I have a good month of work to do, but so far all of the worse case "only" works out to 2400.00 Cdn before shipping.
There is a rebuilt 4.2 RRC short block available close by but I do not have a price yet, I have no issue going down to 4.0 assuming the ECU will work.
I did freeze plugs too.
I'm not saying you need to, but it gave me peace of mind, especially if you do a full rebuild.
They're about $12 U.S
You should be able to rent a tool, and they are very easy to do.
@Sixpack577 yup can not find just a 4.0 block, but the one that is close by has been tested and rebuild to a short - so yes I could swap my crank and pistons over.
I bought a set of coil packs for my Turner engine rebuild. They were sold by one of the vendors here on Ebay and came with the Britpart label. I was getting immediate misfiring from the new coil packs. We went back to my old factory coil packs. No issues for the past year.
I ended up doing the coil relocation since the engine was out.
Thanks @acg , I have learned, from this and other fourms, that Britpart parts can be very bad so I tend to avoid them. Now that the rain has stopped and the snow not has started I can finally get the Combustion test done.
But unless I have a very weird cooling system issue, this is a head gasket just starting to fail or the block cracked for something to do without overheat.
Unfortunately, the Ebay page did not specify it was a Britpart on their selling page. It was around $50+ which I thought would be a good saving. This experience reinforced my belief to stay away from Britpart.
