Default Headed South Again + CDL question

I'm headed on the same trip I went on last time, except this time, there have been a hurricane and a tropical depression through the region. Sounds as if the road are ok, but we'll take it one step at a time.

I've taken the tuck by the good folks at California Rover in Encinitas for a checkup (they rule), I installed a steering guard, removed the long back seat, bought a hi-lift, chain, a winch kit for the hilift and a lift-mate tire adapter, all for insurance. I've got a big bag of tools, spare fluids, and a camera packed as well. All I need now is to write down Disco Mike's number, just in case. ;D (that ok disco mike?)

Also, I figured out my CDL today. Crawled under there with a 10mm open ended wrench and turned it on. Drove around a parking lot and turned it off. The traction is amazing.

A question:

For 4 hours of washboard roads and sand, should I bother with the CDL? The truck has made it down once and back with out it on, no problem. It's a 99 with 102k on the clock, and absolutely none of those have been with the CDL engaged. I'll be 600 miles from a rover deal too.

You can drive with the CDL engaged once you get there. But since you made it beofre I wouldnt bother, unless the roads are REALLY bad and or muddy.
