Default headgaskets done

Finished the headgaskets and such saturday afternoon. Took the while day.. buddy of mine and I took out sweet time. Spent 1.5 hours looking for a pick that we apparently lost. Other than 1 broken A/C compressor bolt... nothing gave us any difficulty.

The big laugh was when I went to do the torque angle on the headbolts... felt so wrong.. lol.

She runs incredible.. aside from a broken hose clamp on the drive home, thay cause it to spew most of its coolant on the street, I couldn't ask for better.

Now to deal with an engine bay cleaning, and stupid air pockets for a month.. lol

Any suggestions on cleaning the engine bay? I hear high pressure water is no no.

I use spray ons (mostly degreaser, but have even used easy off oven cleaner), brushes/scouring pads and high pressure water.

Yea? I've read some horror stories about knock sensors and what not. That's all I'm worried about. I'm fighting front 02 codes still.. don't want to give it any reason to slap me. Bad enough my Roversense is in overdrive.

now it wasnt that bad, now that is back up and running was it?

you also touched a lot of hoses and clamps, i would suggest you pressure test it.

Actually I had fun doing the repair. My buddy has been a LR mechanic since it was owned by BMW. He knows his Discos.

I did a pressure test after letting it idle for 15 minutes once the repair was done. Funny thing was.. the leak I was repairing didn't show up on a pressure test. It only leaked at op temp and under a load.. Basicall on the highway. Found out it was leaking from a few places.. none of them where noticeable at that time.

The hose clamp just broke for reasons I am unaware of.. but believe me I went over thay thing Sunday after work with nut drivers and 1/4in ratchets and what not replacing clamps and checking others just for the hell of it.
