Default Headlight switch effecting instrument backlit

I noticed when turn on the headlight - Radio, clock, gear lights, mileage meters all go dim.

I read the stalk switch may be clogged with grease or shorting out. Before I start taking parts out I wanted to see if anyone had similar experience and if there is an easy fix or test.

It's all started when I replaced the clock backlit bulb.

Thanks for your help in advance

I think that's expected behavior. I turn my headlights on whenever I get in the vehicle.

If you want the headlights on during the day without driver input, it looks like there's a "Daylight running lights" option on page 70 of the owner handbook. The asterisk next to it makes me think it has to be configured or equipped, and isn't standard.

Looks like this supports that idea: https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...-lights-59225/

When you turn them on the radio/clock/HVAC will all dim. Use the wheel under the left side of the instrument cluster to raise the lights to their max.
