Default Headlights not coming on (intermittent)

Hi All,

I an issue which has gradually been getting worse which is that the headlights seem to be taking too long to come on. It is a Canadian vehicle so the headlights come on automatically when the engine is on and you put the car into drive, this operation never takes any time so the lights are fine. However, if you turn the headlights on from the switch it can take a number of seconds for them to light up. This seems to take ridiculously long in cold weather. It was -13 this morning and they did not come on for a good minute or so.

Any thoughts on what might be causing this?

Cheers,

J

Grease in the switch is old, cold, and has to warm up to allow contacts to make. There have been recent posts with photos of how to take it apart and clean out and re-lube. Wiper can suffer a similar fate.

Ditto what Savannah said. I had a similar issue w/ my wipers. Its your headlight switch/stalk. Replace or clean it.

Search "wiper switch fix" and "Dismantled turn signal switch" in the search bar above if you wanted to see some pics I put up here. Others have added some good insight. Easy fix.
I just did my headlight/ turn signal switch last week.
take a look at the posts, any other concerns free to ask.
