Default Testing for a blown headgasket or crack in the engine?

UVIEW 560000 Combustion Leak Tester: Garden Center : Walmart.com

Has anyone ever used one of these on their Disco? Are they safe to use on our trucks and are they accurate or recommend? I do not "NEED" to test it yet but I'm curious and the kit is only $61 and beats driving to a mechanic shop to have them test it. What do you guys think? I may purchase the kit next month once my shafts and O2 sensors are serviced and out of the way.

Are you leaking coolant? Why bother if you don't have to? If you need the peace of mind I guess I understand but if she's running good she's running good.

These testers do about 15 tests with fluid provided, and you can buy more fluid. Some parts stores rent/loan out the thing. Some fools that go to auto auctions use them to pre-bid inspect any English vehicle, and some others. Changes color.

Save your money, something else will fail shortly (unwritten LR law)

Is that a bad idea? Seems like might be a wise investment when shopping for a LR, but as noted, if it is not the HG it will be something else.

It is also a good "proof of performance " test for head gasket jobs.

Buzz, which auto parts chains have you seen rent/loan this tester? In another thread I've written that a friend may have a leaking headgasket or a cracked block.

Some one else posted about a loaner, I guess that varies by area.
