pull that middle light out and disconnect it, and also the sunroof switch you can reach in behind it once you have the light out and push it out and then disconnect it.

Got the rear gate panel off and I see the two body bolts holding the headliner in. Do those just pull out like the side panels? Seems like they're really in there and I don't want to pull too hard.

Holy crap that was fun!! Pics coming in a minute. Hilltop, would you mind making a list of what all you bought and the steps you took for painting the headliner? I sure would appreciate it if you have time.

first take off the center console and the cargo nets. becareful not to break those plastic pieces they twist and break very easily. then rip that old fabric off. i used a good wire brush to get the old foam off. then a sponge to get the rest off and finally a damp paper towel. it makes a good mess. then i used 2 cans of double coverage spray primer. and finally 3 cans of paint. i used 2 cans of paint and then waited a day used a 320 grit sandpaper and used the last can of spray paint. the only things i had to buy were the clips to the sun visors which were $14 from the dealer.

I broke some of the posts off. The ones you told me to be careful with on the center console. Two questions: Can I use some sort of epoxy to attach them once the painting is done? The rear side panels were missing some of the body bolts. Can I find some of those at Lowes or do I need to order them from LR?

how many of those posts did you break? i broke two but it was OK because they were not next to each other and i actually was able to turn the nut upside down and get it on the little stump that was left from the broken piece. Still able to tighten it down and it works great. as far as the body panel plastic fasteners go i would refer to the RAVE manual and see if the part number is in there and then you can figure out the size of the fastener from the part number. for something that small you should be safe getting it from the dealer can't be much more and at least you will know it is the exact part. Like I said those back panels have a few different sizes and widths so i would refer to the RAVE and your local LR dealer.

Thanks so much for your help today hilltop. I broke most of the posts because the nut on the other side wouldn't budge and I had to get it off somehow. When I went to Lowes to get paint tonight, I also picked up some loctite epoxy that will put that panel back on for good!!! No reason to every take it off again so why not.

Put the kilz on tonight and will paint and install tomorrow. Also, a few of the rear a/c vents had cracks and need to be replaced. When I pulled the vents, the little insulation strip that sits between the vent and the air duct fell apart as well. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

i would call Atlantic British on Monday about the A/C vents see if they sell replacements or if they have a suggestion that will work better that won't dry out and crumble like the OEM ones did.
