I have had my disco 2 in to 2 different supposed rover specialists to fix a front leaky sunroof. I actually fixed the pan and the hose nipples after they removed the sunroof. But i still get a leak when the rover is parked with the front downhill. So I'm assuming the morons forgot to put a hose on one side. I am going to take down the headliner and look at it myself. Crazy after spending 2K and getting ripped off. Can anyone give me a idea of how to take down the front. I know about removing all the handles and the sun visors. Is it held up by some sort of clips. Thanks for the information in advance.
If you are just checking to see that the tubes are in place, if you remove the trim around the sunroof, you should be able to pull it down just enough to see.
I don't think it's really possible to pull down just the front because of how it's hooked in and around the various fittings and fixtures, except for pulling it down around the sunroof itself to be able to see up into the cavity as described above. To actually do any work in there you're going to have to slide the whole thing backwards far enough to get to the tray. You would probably damage it pretty extensively if you tried to take just the front part down. (I've taken them out 3 or 4 times.)
Where are you getting water leaks? Is it coming around the rear view mirror? Just showing up on the floor?
There are very common leak points along the top of the windshield as well as the top of the A-pillars that will let water run in the body panel and leak all over the carpets up front.
Remove the map holder, remove the visors, remove the rear trim at the rear door by pulling straight out, remove the big C/D-pillar trim by removing the trim plugs, remove the B-pillar trim, remove the A-pillar trim, then remove the grab handles. Lots of unclipping. To remove the B-pillar trim, pull back the door seals and be careful removing the black "claws" holding it to the frame.
Took the headliner out and removed the sunroof. Gave the drain pan to me and I fixed the nipples etc. so they would not break again with metal ones. Then they reinstalled the headliner after I had it redone. Put it back with grab handles upside down and all kind of dirt and grime on the new headliner. not even enough sense to wash there hands. People that work on autos these days are morons. Most of them just complete idiots. Better to fix what you can yourself. Only place I get great service is at Maserati for our QP. They are top notch.
